Welcome to the Granite State Chapter of APICS!
The Granite State Chapter of APICS, located on the New Hampshire seacoast, includes members from many diverse businesses around the seacoast area and including southern Maine and northern Massachusetts along the New Hampshire borders. At present, the Granite State Chapter has approximately 56 members. Our primary activity centers around monthly professional development meetings (PDMs) that offer either a guest speaker on a topic of interest to our operations management members or a plant tour. We also offer in-house education in the APICS disciplines that support and reinforce operations management. APICS educational offerings support Certification in Production and Inventory Management, CPIM, and Certification in Supply Chain Management, CSCP. Please visit our education page. Our partnership with Great Bay Community College provides a regular schedule of classes in the CPIM study areas. The Board of Directors usually meets the first Tuesday of every month and our Professional Development Meetings (PDMs) are usually on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Please check our calendar of events on our "Events" page to see our most current offerings.
A message from the President Welcome to a new year of activities at the Granite State Chapter of APICS. Our active programs run from September through May with an exciting schedule of guest speakers, plant tours and educational opportunities to help you enhance your skills and knowledge, and earn or maintain your certification.
In putting each year’s program together, we look for interesting speakers on topics of interest and supplement that with plant tours to provide insight into the issues and challenges other companies are facing and how they dealt with them. We believe that learning is a life-long process and want to provide these opportunities for our members and guests to support that process. For the coming year, we have a program outlined that includes procurement (re-shoring), supply chain, team building, and lean, among other topics. Plant tours include aerospace, green energy and industrial products. We are also planning several additional educational opportunities including a two-day Lean Six Sigma workshop and an intensive CSCP review class on Saturdays during the winter. These are in addition to the regular schedule of CPIM classes held in cooperation with Great Bay Community College. Remember that both CPIM and CSCP classes are available on-site at your location on a schedule that meets your needs – days, evenings or even on the weekend.
I encourage every one of you to attend PDM dinner meetings and plant tours this year – even if you are not a member of the chapter. You can show your support for APICS and the chapter by attending several of the chapter’s offerings, by providing feedback as to whether we are meeting your needs, by encouraging your peers to join the chapter, or by volunteering to assist the board. There are open positions on the Board if you’d like to help (Treasurer, Membership, and Web Master).
This will be my second year as chapter president and I am looking forward to another full program of activities and fellowship. Last year was a very good one for the Granite State chapter, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the best board of directors of any chapter in the district – perhaps the best in the society. We earned a “gold” designation from the society for the first time in many years (we were a “silver” chapter most recently and look forward to continuing this achievement of excellence. I want to thank this most excellent board (listed below) for their continued support of this chapter. We couldn’t do it without you!
Remember that our PDM meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at the Great Bay Community College or at a plant site in the area. Schedule and location are highlighted in the monthly newsletter and on the events page of this website. We encourage you to join us and as always let us know what you think.
